Portland’s City Manager Subcommittee announced today the selection of three finalists for the city’s top administrative position, city manager.

The finalists include:  JOHN CURP, former Interim City Manager of Cincinnai, Ohio; ALEX MCINTYRE, Interim City Manager of San Bruno, California; and DANELLE WEST, Current Interim City Manager in Portland.

The finalists were chosen from a pool of 77 applicants.  The finalists will move forward to the in-person interview stage on Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15 when they will have interviews with the Mayor and Council as well as City staff.  The Council is hoping to be able to make an offer to a candidate by the end of April bringing forward an action item on a Council agenda at one of its meetings in May.

As part of the selection process, the public is invited to attend a community reception to meet the finalists on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at city hall in the State of Maine room.  Attendees will be asked to complete a quick survey in order to provide the Council with feedback on the finalists.  It is not known at this time whether or not the surveys will be made public as the city spokeswoman has not responded to an inquiry on the matter.   City staff will also be invited to a reception during the day on Friday, April 14.  They will also be given the chance to complete a feedback survey.

Munjoyhillnews.com has been highly critical of Portland’s Interim City Manager West because of her mishandling of the removal of the popular food trucks on the Eastern Promenade down to the Cutter Street parking lot below the Prom on Munjoy Hill.
