In-Person Absentee Voting Starts on Monday, October 7th at Portland’s City Hall

In-person absentee voting for the November 5, 2024 election begins on Monday, October 7th.  It starts in the State of Maine room, adjacent to the city clerk’s office on the second floor of city hall.  Hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday.  For those who have requested their absentee ballots sent to them, those will begin going out in the mail on Friday, October 4th.

The last day to in-person absentee vote is Thursday, October 31, unless you have a special circumstdance.  The clerk’s office will be open until 7:00 pm on Thursday, Ocdtober 31 only for voter registration and in-person absentee voting.

The external drop box will be set up at city hall and Canco Road and ready to receive completed absentee ballots 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Absentee ballots must be returned by 8:00 pm on Election Day.  Due to the high volume of absentee ballots, the city clerk is asking that resident return their completed and signed ballots as quickly as possible.  The city reports that 8,100 requests for absentee ballots have been received – higher than in 2022.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 5, 2024 and all polling places will be open on that day from 7:00 am – 8:00 pm.
