On Monday, May 5, 2025 at 12:18 pm., Portland Police were patroling the vicinity of Shaws on Washington Avenue, when they recognized an individual that had eight warrants out for his arrest.
When officers attempted to take the man into custody, he began resisting before striking one of the officiers on the head, causing a laceration. The suspect continued to resist, causing significant scratches to the neck of the same officer, who was treated for his injuries.
Police arrested Nicholas Lavoie, 33, and homeless, charging him with multiple crimes. He also had eight outstanding warrants. He was transported to the Cumberland County Jail.
