HERO, a sandwich shop that just opened in March has already developed a faithful following of lunchtime goers. Located at 30 City Center, (a/k/a Monument Way) where Soakology originally was before it relocated to Congress Street. The lunchtime crowd that mhn.com saw last Friday was huge beginning at 12:30 pm. So get there earlier if you can!
The menu includes salads, sandwiches and sides, but with HERO’s own twist on them. The twist was fine-tuned by Max Brady manager of HERO who was on vacation last week when mhn.com stopped in. There is a fried egg plant sandwich and an acorn squash sandwich – the latter a special favorite of many customers. It’s cost is $8.50.
HERO seats 22 people comfortably. The stunning cherry butcher block tables were made by Charles Finks, a carpenter who lives on the Eastern Promenade. In fact, they may look familiar to patrons of OTTO’s on the Hill. That’s because Finks did the carpentry there and the tables are similarly stunning.
That connection with Mike and Anthony led to OTTO’s funding HERO – with that support, it can’t be anything but great!
HERO is open every day but Sunday for lunch between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm. For take out and catering services, please call 613-9358.
