Portside, the condominiums being built on top of the under construction Hampton Inn, are all under contract for sale, said Jeff Daigneault, project manager for Opeechee Construction Co., NH. yesterday afternoon. The Inn is scheduled to open this spring.
There are 12 luxury condominiums with 1 and 2 bedroom units, said Sandy Johnson, real estate broker for Town & Shore. The 2 bedrooms went for approximately $300,000 – $500,000 and the 1 bedroom units sold for in the low $200,000 range. The units were all under contract within 2 1/2 weeks of going on the market. About half of the purchasers are from out-of-state and the rest from Maine. Johnson also said there is a mix of retired people and young professionals.
“The reason they were picked up so quickly is because they are new, single level living with elevators and on-site parking,” Johnson said. “It shows that people want to live in town within walking distance of town.”
The units have a separate entrance on Fore Street as well as lobby. Occupancy is expected for August.
Diagneault also confirmed that the Sebago Brewery Restaurant will be moving into the new Inn in May this year.
