Nonprofit organzations that support Greater Portland may be eligible for grants from the Rines Thompson Fund in the Maine Community Foundation (MaineCF) . The Fund supports organizations focused on environment and conservation, early childhood and youth programming and arts and culture. In 2021, the Fund awarded 26 grants totaling $146,750. Donors with advised funds at MaineCF awarded an additdional eight grants totaling $29,500.
Last year’s grantees included Greater Portland Landmarks, LearningWorks and Opera Maine.

The children and grandchildren of Henry R. and Adeline B. Rines established the Fund to give back to the community that has supported businesses owned by the Rines Thompson family, including the Congress Square Hotel, the Eastland Hotel, WCSH Radio and WCSH Television.
