Get Out and Vote – Democracy is on the Ballot.  Susan Collins Should NOT be!

Today, Graham Platner, released his “Corruption Crackdown” agenda, a comprehensive plan to take on corruption in Washington and stop billionaires, lobbyists, special interests and establishment politicians like SUSAN COLLINS from enriching themselves at the expense of working people.

Platner’s proposal would ban congressional stock trading, prohibit foreign lobbying, crack down on Pentagon contractor influence, strengthen ethics rules throughout the federal government and end the flow of corporate and dark money into American elections.

Most notably, the plan calls for the implementation of the “Collins Rule,” legislation that would require senators to recuse themselves from any vote, decision or oversight activity involving an agency from which their spouse’s firm receives government contracts.  The proposal is named after Senator Susan Collins, who funneled more than $76 million in federal contracts to her husband’s lobbying firm.  As the plan notes,” Hiring your spouse is banned.  Arranging for your spouse’s firm to receive millions from agencies you oversee is, apparentlly, fine.”  The Collins Rule would close that loophole once and for all.

“I’m releasing a corruption agenda and the “Collins Rule,” because Mainers deserve better than billionaire-backed politicians like  Susan Collins who use their power to funnel money into their spouse’s pockets while the rest of us beg for scraps,” said Graham Platner.  “The establishment has rigged the system with legalized corruption and poisoned our elections with billionaire money and a poltics that enriches the powerful at the expense of working people.  We’re taking this fight directly to Susan Collins  and her billionaire donors, and we won’t stop until power is returned to the working people of Maine.”

The plan would also take on the billionaire donors and special interests who have spent decades buying influence in Washington.  It comes just weeks after it was revealed tht nearly 100 billionaires and theier spouses have contribued roughly $10 million to support Susan Collins’ reelection campaign since the start of 2025 alone.  Nearly 100 billionaires did not invest millions of dollars ino Susan Collins’ campaign because they care about Maine — they did it because they expect a return on their investment.

The Corruption Crackdown agenda is a direct response to the staggering levels of corruption seen in Washington.  Susan Collins is one of the most corrupt politicans in DC — spending decades benefiting from the very system she claims to oppose – accepting millions in corporate PAC money, benefitng from millions more in dark money spending, failing to properly report more than two dozen stock trades worth up to $395,000 and watching her husband, Thomas Daffron, go to work for the lobbist who runs her Super PAC.

Platner’s “Corruption Crakdown” agenda would:
