Mainers Want Fresh New Faces to Repesent them in Washington, DC Such as Oyster Farmer and US Marine Vet Graham Platner, 41.
Graham Platner, candidate for the US Senate from Maine, released a video today on military operations in Iran. In the video, Platner says:
“Once again, in the space of less han two months, we awake to find that Donald Trump has illegally and unconstitutionally used military force against another country. Today he has started major combat operations against the nation of Iran.
He is doing this beause he is flailing politically. He ran on ending foreign intervention like this. But because he sees his political future at risk, he’s willing to send young American men and women into harm’s way and he’s willing to bring an immense amount of violence upon the civilian population of Iran.
This behavior makes us a pariah on the international stage. But we have to remember that this behavior is because we’ve acted like this in the past. I’ve fought in wars just like this one. We cannot continue to have a foreign policy built around just dropping bombs on people when it benefits those in power here at home or it benefits corporate interests abroad. This is not how the United States military should be utilized. Sadly in the coming weeks, we are likely to see more horror and more failure. This kind of behavior needs to end. None of us, no American — certainly no one in the Democratic Party — should support this kind of operation.
This is the kind of foreign policy we need to end — not continue to support. I’m standing across the street from a war memorial here in Northern Maine. It reminds me of the human toll of war — something I have seen wth my own eyes. We cannot continue to act this way. This must end.”
Graham lives in Sullivan with his wife, Amy, just three doors down from the house where he grew up. He served three deployments to Iraz with the US Marine Corps and one deployment to Afghanistan in the Army National Guard.
“President Trump avoided the military draft five (5) times because of bone spurs. Let’s not forget that,” adds this blogger.
