Governor Janet T. MIlls (D) announced today that she will visit New Brunswick and Nova Scotia to promote Maine as a top destination for Canadian tourists and to strengthen cross-border relationships and economic ties.
Governor Mills visit to Canada comes during a challenging time for US-Canadian relations. Maine has experienced a sharp drop in cross-border travel from Canada amid Federal uncerainity and harsh rehetoric from Washington. Governor Mills has prioritized reaching out to Canadians directly to make clear that – despite what comes from Washington – they are welcome in Maine.
On Monday, the Governor will travel to Fredericton New Brunswick. Whlle on the way to Fredericton, the Governor will stop in St. John, New Brunswick, where she will visit businesses with Maine ties and hold a roundtable with the Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce.
On Tuesday, Governor Mills is scheduled to meet with New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt and other provincal leaders in Fredericton. The Governor and Premier Holt will participate in a fireside chat hosted by the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce.
On Wednesday, Governor Mills will meet with Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston in Halifax. She will also tour the Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entreprenership (COVE) in Dartmoth, Nova Scotia. The Governir will return to Maine on Thursday, June 26, 2025,
