These Words Were Made “Immortal” by Governor Janet T. Mills (D) When She Met Up with President Trump at the White House. She Won! (For More on One of Her Legacies, Please Visit Post Herein dated April 25, 2025.)
A rumor abounds that lame duck Governor Janet T. Mills plans to drop out of the Maine senate race tomorrow, Thursday, May 1,2026, Although her staff in Augusta refuses to confirm this to this blogger, a pattern it has developed in recent months, the rumor seems to be accurate.
It is not surprising she has opted to do this. With polls showing her popularity in a consistently downward spiral and fund raising drying up, it was the only logical path she has. No doubt a very tough and rocky path for her to take. As someone who conducted unscientific surveys constantly, a few voters in the Portland area were torn with a loyalty to her because of her record as attorney general and governor of Maine. But others expressed concern that her age was a negative factor and voters wanted someone younger and with fresh, new ideas. They are getting them with Graham Platner, the other Democratic candidate in the race who is consistently outpolling her and out fundraising her.
As a former (apparently !) member of her supporters, many Mainers are grateful to Governor Janet Mills for her years of steady, thoughtful leadership when it was most needed. During the nasty Governor LePage years, when she served as AG, Covid years and the Trump years so far, she has stood up strongly for Mainers. This blogger is most certainly one of them. Whatever the future holds for Gov. Mills, this blogger is sure it will be productive and beneficial for the residents of Maine. As the first women Attorney General in Maine only to be succeeded as the first woman Governor of Maine, she has set the bar for public service high and serves as a role model for many young women who want to follow in her foot steps.
Thank you Governor Mills for your years of historic service to Maine! You will be missed; your arrogant staff in Augusta, not so much!
