Since President Joe Biden announced this afternoon that he has discontinued his run for President of the US and his endorsing his VP Kamala Harris , the number of endorsements from Democratic governors and members of Congress have rolled in at a rapid pace. Among those Democratic Governors endorsing VP Harris for President is Maine’s Governor Janet T. Mills. In a statement released by her office today, the Governor praised President Joe Biden for being one of the “best presidents of my lifetime.” She said he has been a “steady, competent and compassionate” leader. Governor Mills called the President a person of “great integrity and great heart and that he has been a friend to the State of Maine.” Following that appreciation for President Biden, the Governor wrote:
“I look foward to continuing to work with President Biden for the remainder of his term and to doing everything I can to elect VP Kamala Harris, a friend and former colleague as Attorney General and a fighter for the people, as our next President.” Governor Mills was the first woman Attorney General for the State of Maine.
In addition, it has been announced this evenig that because of today’s developments in the Presidential campaign, donations have “exploded”, possibly making today the largest day of campaign donations in the history of the Democratic party.
On a lighter note, Congresswoman Jamie Raskin said that the public is getting to know more about J. D. Vance, Trump’s choice for his VP. “Vance has no convictions, but Donald Trump has more than enough of his own.” So he can probably give some of his to J.D. Vance.
