The following is a statement released by Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-ME) on her support for VP Kamala Harris for President;

“Kamala Harris is a proven leader who has faithfully served alongside Presidet Biden in one of the most successful terms our nation has ever seen.  She is the most qualified person to continue the critical work protecting our freedoms, preserving our democracy and growing our economy. I pledge my full support to ensure VP Harris’ victory in November and am eager to work with her to keep Donald Trump and JD Vance out of the White House.”

Since President Biden announced he will not continue his run for the presidency over the weekend, VP Kamala Harris has received an ‘avalanche’ of support from Democratic leaders.  US Rep. Seth Moulton, of Massachusetts, added his voice in support of her for President of the US today.  He also compared President Biden to George Washington for relinquishing his power for the good of the nation rather than tryig to hold onto it for selfish purposes.  Moulton refused to pick a preference for vice president in a Harris presidency – sayig that the Democrats have an extremely deep bench from which to choose.  Three of the leading tontenders include Mark Kelly of Arizona, Governor Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvaia and Governor Roy Cooper of North Carolia.

In a statement issued today from the Democratic campaign office, it said that as a prosecutor VP Harris has held criminals accountable; Donald Trump, a convicted felon, will be no different either.  Hakeem Jeffries, Minority Leader of the US House of Representatives said today:  “Kamala Harris has excited the House Democratic caucus.  And she is exciting the country.  Trump is having a meltdown.  People don’t llike his MEGA policies and his “Project 2025″ is upopular.”  Some are beginning to think that selectding JD Vance as his running mate by Trump was not a wise choice.His very hard right positions will limit and not expand voter appeal which is now needed because of the appeal of VP Kamala Harris.
