Governor Mills Directs Flags Lowered in Honor of Fallen Firefighter Andrew Cross on May 22, 2026

Governor Janet T. Mills has directed that the United States and State of Maine flags be lowered statewide from sunrise to sunset on Friday, May 22, 2026, in honor of late Morreill firefighter Andrew Crossw, who died last Friday as a result of the explosion and fire at Robbins Lumber in Searsmont.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday at Veracity Chapel in Morrill.

Visitng hours for Cross will be held this Thursday evening from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Riposta Funeral Home in Belfast, with shuttles available from Belfast High School.

Governor Mills previously directed flags lowered this Thursday, May 21, 2026 in concert with funeral services for the Honorable Gerald Talbot and Maine Game Warden Joshua Tibbetts.
