Governor Mills Awarded Endorsements from Two Major Non-profits

The Sportman’s Alliance of Maine has given Governor Janet T. Mills (D), the first woman Governor of Maine and the state’s first AG, an “A” grade and thumbs up in its 2022 Election Guide.  It applauds her collaborative approach to governing and her strong work to protect and expand opportunities for sportsmen.  That includes replenishing the Land for Maine’s Future Program, improving Maine’s fish hatcheries and addressing PFAs contamination.

Republican candidate for Governor Paul LePage was given a grade of “incomplete” and withdrew his questionnaire following his interview with the non-profit.

“The Maine outdoors is central to our economy and to whom we are as a people – and whether its fishing, hiking or skeet shooting, It’s also my favorite place in the world to be,” said Governor Mills in a press release issued by her office today.  “I have fought hard to make sure that we are preserving and protecting our lands, creating more opportunities for hunting, fishing and ATVing, and most importantly in maknig sure that future generations will be able to enjoy our state in the same way we do today.  That’s what I am going to do for the next four years as well.”

Governor Mills has accomplished much work without raising taxes or the cost of licenses.

In a second endorsement announced today as well, the Maine Credit Union League endorsed the Governor for reelection.  The endorsement cited her steady and inclusive leadership and her work to strengthen Maine’s economy and fight hunger.  The League’s Board of Directors voted unanimously to approve her endorsement at a special meeting held earlier this month.  In 2018, the League endorsed Republican candidate Shawn Moody.

“Governor Mills is an experienced leader who has successfully navigated our state through extraordinary times,” said Todd Mason, President/CEO of the Maine Credit Union League.  “Her work to strengthen Maine’s economy and address critical issues like ending hunger are just a few reasons why she is deeply deserving of the credit union endorsement.  She values our collective voice and has provided us a seat at the table when making key policy decisions.  As an industry, we are fortunate that she recognizes the meaningfjul contributions credit unions make in the lives of their members, communties and the State of Maine.”
