Tomorrow, Saturday, October 12th, Governor Janet Mills, the first women Governor of the State of Maine, will hold a bilateral meeting with Scotland’s Minister for Energy, Connectivity and the Island’s Paul Wheelhouse, to discuss Maine’s ambitious climate goals and possible areas for collaboration in embracing renewable energy and combating climate change.
Following the conclusion of the bilateral meeting, General Mills will depart Iceland to return home to Maine.
In an address before the Arctic Circle Assembly, the Governor reaffirmed Maine’s partnership with Arctic nations and pledged Maine’s help on combating climate change, strengthening trade relationships, and exchanging cutting-edge research to diversify and expand Maine’s economy.
Governor Mills told the Arctic Circle that she led the largest delegation ever from the State of Maine – including a variety of leaders who understand that what happens here affects Maine and vice versa.
