
Former President of the US Jimmy Carter Died Sunday at 100 Years of Age. He was the 39th President of the US.
In accordance with a directive of President Biden, Governor Janet T. Mills has ordered that the US and State of Maine flags be lowered to half staff statewide in honor of former President Jimmy Carter, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 100.
Per the President’s proclamation and pursuant to US Code, the flags are to be flown at half staff for a period of 30 days from the death of the former President and are to be returned to full staff at sunset on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
President Biden has called for a National Day of Mourning on Jauary 9, 2025. There will also be a service at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC that day.
