Mainers Want Fresh New Faces to Represeent them in Washington, DC Such as Oyster Farmer and US Marine Vet Graham Platner
“I couldn’t be more proud to endorse my fellow friend and my fellow governor, Janet Mills, in her campaign for the US Senate” said Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear. “Janet and I have a few things in common. We were both attorneys general. We’re both governors and we both can’t stand bullies.”
But there is one thing the two don’t have in common; he is young and she is not! Governor Beshear is 48 years old and Governor Mills is almost 80 years old. Vetting would have shown this age discrepancy. Common sense would have told the Kentucky Governor that 80 is simply too senior for anyone to start a new chapter in her public career – especially in the current turbulent environment that exists in Washington, DC.
A vetting would have also disclosed that Governor Mills does err on the conservative side of politics. She did not support the so-called “red flag” law which was overwhelming approved by voters last month.
It was also disclosed recently that she has refused to sign LD 1971. This measure would make it more possible for local law enforcement to collaborate with ICE officers. This legislation was passed by the Maine legislature this past spring. Governor Mills has not signed it. When this Left Winger emailed the Governor’s aide de camp Scott Ogden to determine why she won’t sign it. Scott responded: “We wish you much joy and happiness during the holiday season, Carol.” Is that “standing up to bullies?”
It was revealed in a November 24, 2024 article in “The Maine Monitor” that “Senate Democrats persuaded a trio of candidates – Roy Cooper in North Carolnia, Sherrod Brown in Ohio and Janet Mills in Maine – to run even though they had little apparent incentive to endure a gruefling campaign nex year.” The same article said that “some polls of the race show the political newcomer Platner leading the incumbent governor in the primary……” Apparently, the siren call from Senator Chuck Shumer et al was too tempting to turn down. Shortly after her election for her second term, this blogger attended a press conference at the State House in Augusta. When asked what part of being governor she liked best, the Governor responded: “I like it all. But I’m so glad I won’t have to run another grueling campaign for office.’
The above words and more words of praise were part of an endorsement of the Kentucky Governor for Maine Governor Mills to upend the candidacy of the very vulnerable Senator Susan Collins (R) next year. It came in a two page endorsement this Left Winger received in the form of a press release from Governor Mills office last Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
Early this afternoon, this LWL called Governor Beshear’s office in Kentucky to inform it of this upcoming story on the subject. The woman who answered the telephone said: “The Governor can not discuss political matters. It has to come through the party.” Then she hung up.
Oh? /Really?
