Gina McCarthy, Former EPA Administrator, to Speak Tomorrow AM in Hallowell.  She is Currently a Professor of the Practice of Public Health at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

The keynote speaker at the first meeting of the Maine Climate Council tomorrow morning will be Gina McCarthy, former Environmental Protection Administration, Administrator. She was appointed Administrator by President Obama and served in that post between 2013 and 2017.  Her remarks will come at 11:40 am.

The first meeting will be held at Maple Hill Farm, Hallowell.  It begins at 9:00 am.  Governor Janet T. Mills, the first sitting Governor of Maine to address the General Assembly of the United Nations, will address the Council at 11:30 am.

The Maine Climate Council was proposed by Governor Janet T. Mills in April 2019 and passed with overwhelming bipartisan support by the Legislature, is charged with establishing strategies and initiatives to help the state meet its greenhouse gas reductions.

The first Climate Action Plan is due to be submitted to the Legislature by December 1, 2020.
