Renovations to the fifth floor at One City Center in Portland began about a month ago for a major energy company according to sources familiar with the situation. The offices had been the editorial offices for the local daily for years. In the process of downsizing, they are moving to space in South Portland. The paper will maintain a small presence of reporters at One City Center for coverage of the court systems and city hall.
Several years ago the sales office there, but on a different floor, also relocated to its plant facility in South Portland.
It appears that the Spanish-based company will be moving into its new offices sometime this spring – perhaps in May or June of 2017.
Avangrid is the owner of the Augusta-based Central Maine Power.
The company is a diversified energy and utility company with $30 billion in assets and operates in twenty-five (25) states.
