Police have arrested 19-year-old Salahadine Eleyeh for Class B Unlawfjul Trafficing in Schedule W. Drugs and Refusing to Submit to Arrest according to a press release issued early this afternoon by Portland Police.
In the early hours of January 15th, a vehicle stop was attempted on a van with no front license plate. The vehicle failed to stop and ran through several red lights in an attempt to elude the Officer. The occupants exited the vehicle at the intersection of Congress and Montgomery Streets and began to flee. The Officer approached Eleyeh near Peppermint Park and placed him under arrest, as several small baggies of what later proved to be crack cocaine were found on him. Later that morning a realistic BB gun and a Ruger LC9 pistol were both recovered from the area where Eleyeh was arrested.
We’ve seized five guns off the streets in the last ten days,” said Interim Police Chief Heath Gorham. “Every gun being carried by a person engaged in criminal activity represents a threat to our community. Every gun taken off the street by our officers makes our city safer for our residents and visitors. We are very proud of the work they do each and every day.”
