This evening it has been reported that at approximately 4:00 pm this afteroon, multiple reports of a fire were reported on Interstate 295 at mile 37 southbound in the town of Bowdoinham.  Responding units found a vehicle off the roadway in the median where the fire was located.

The preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle driven by an adult male, was traveling southbound when it left the roadway and entered the median  The vehicle struck several trees at a high rate of speed and caught fire.  The driver’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.  He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.  No other vehicles were involved.
