On July 22, 2026, at approximately 6:12 pm., Portland Police responded to the area of 417 Forest Avenue after a 33 year old woman reported that a man exited a truck, followed her a short distance and threw a substance at her from a small container.  A witness corroborated the incident and stated she saw the male following the ivctim and possibly throwing something onto her.

Shortly thereafer, officers located and interviewed the suspect.  He was identified as Theo Orestis, 22, of Falmouth.  He was issued a summons, charging him with Assault.

The circumstances of the incident meet the elements of the crime of assault, which is a Class D misdemeanor under Maine law.  The substance involved does not change the classifiration of this offense.

It is important to note that the issuance of a criminal summons constitutes an arrest under Maine law, even though the individual is not taken into physical custody.
