End Citizens United, a leading national anti-corruption organization, today named incumbent Senator Susan Collins (R) to its 2026 list of Most Corrupt Politicans, citing a record of taking money from corporate special interests and advancing policies that have raised costs on families across Main according to a press release received this afternoon from the Grahaam Platner for US Senate campaign.
“Senator Collins has built a record of taking money from corporations and special interests and then using her votes to protect them as they raise prices on families in Maine,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “From higher health care costs and rising energy bills to more expensive groceries and housing, the consequences of those decisions show up in what people can afford and how far their paychecks go. In a Congress defined by corruption, Senator Collins stands out for going above and beyond to keep her biggest donors happy. We’re going to make sure voters understand this betrayal and hold her accountabale at the ballot box in November.”
ECU’s Most Corrupt designation highlights politicans whose actions consistently align with the interests of their biggest donors over their constituents. Senator Collins is a prime example, having taken a stunning $8.3 million in corporate PAC money over her career — the most of any politician in Maine history — and opposing a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United. She also opposes increasing campagin finance transparency and banning congressional stock trading, while benefiting from millions in dark money spendinng and owning the EIGHTH most lucrative stock portfolio in Congress. She represents Wall Street not Main Street and rewards her donors with profitable policies — from enabling private equity tax loophles to preventing Medicare drug price negotiations. After Senator Collins openly helped defense company Navatek secure an $8 milllion Navy contract, its CEO was convicted in an ILLEGAL scheme to donate $200,000 in her 2020 campaign. Right before Collins cast a pivotal vote for Donald Trump’s tax bill last year, a super PAC supporting her received a $2 million contribution from billionaires private equity executive Stephen Schwarzman.

The group will also conduct sustained earned media and direct voter education and engagement.
