The Street on the East End of Portand Where the Suicide Occurred.

Portland Police responded to a report of a man tryig to break into a house on Hampshire Street at 4:21 am on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.  Upon arrival, an officer approached a man sitting on the sidewalk who matched the description.  The subject stood up and started to walk away before beginning to stab himself.   After collapsing to the ground, officers tried to administrer first aid, but the suspect later succumbed to self-inflicted stabbing wounds.
