Early in-Person Absentee Voting Starts Monday, October 5th in Portland, PLUS MORE

Call the City of Portland Clerks Office at 874-8677 or 874-8610, During Office Hours, to Receive a Ballot for the November Election.

Beginning Monday, October 5th, anyone wanting to vote absentee in-person can do so in the city clerk’s temporary office space in the Merrill Auditorium lobby via the Myrtle Street entrance.  Hours are 9:00 am to 4:30 pm – Monday through Friday.

The clerk’s office will offer late hours until 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 15 and 22, for ballot returns.  On Thursday, October 29, the city clerk’s office will remain open until 7:00 pm for voter registration and in-person absentee voting.  The last day to in-person absentee vote is Friday October 30, 2020.

Please wear a mask when in-person voting.

Election Day this year is Tuesday, November 3, 2020 and the polling places will be open on that day from 7:00 am – 8:00 pm.  Polling locations will look different in light of COVID-19 safety measures.  This means that booths will be spread out,  hand sanitizer and disinfectant spray will be plentiful and election workers will have plexiglass barriers, fae shields and masks.  Voters are encouraged to wear a mask or cloth face covering when voting.

If you have already requested your absentee ballot, BALLOTS WILL BEGIN GOING OUT IN THE MAIL ON OCTOBER 5th.  Ballots scan be returned via mail or by dropping them off in the ballot box that is inside the Merrill Auditorium Lobby during business hours.  Ballots must be returned by 8:00 pm on Election Day.  You must return absentee ballots via email or to the Merrill Auditorium Lobby and NOT to your normal polling place.

If you have requested an absentee ballot and you have now decided that you want to vote in person, please bring  your ballots with you.  If you no longer wish to absentee vote, then you can vote at your polling place on Election Day as long as you have not returned your absentee ballot.
