Move over Planet Dog and Fish & Bone!
A doggie boutique has just opened in time for the holiday gift giving season – and if you are looking for the “perfect” gift for your best chum and favorite feline – check out “Uncommon Paws,” 13 Exchange Street in the Old Port of Portland.
“It’s been a real community feeling here. Neighboring store owners have come in to welcome me,” said Gudron Cobb, Owner, of “Uncommon Paws.” The attractively stocked store opened last Saturday and has been extremely busy since.
For years, Cobb has made dog collars, leashes and harnesses from her Portland home. Now she and her husband are selling them in all sizes and a wide variety of designs from “Uncommon Paws.” There are hundreds of them artfully displayed on her “collar wall” – for between $20. $34. She and her daughter Theresa also make harnesses to order – for whatever size and shape dog for which you are shopping this season!
In addition to her own brand of collars, leashes and harnesses, Cobb sells dog care items – including supplements, coats, treats, dishes, Jim Willilams lab cards and calendars and much, much more. There is a corner cabinet devoted to special items for your favorite cat so your feline won’t feel left out in the cold come Christmas Day!
Cobb has successfully sold her brand of collars, leashes and harnesses at juried arts and crafts shows from here to Connecticut. She just finished the Boston Christmas Festival – a three-day show with 25,000 people attending. These items are also sold on the Internet.
“Uncommon Paws” is open seven days a week from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm with special holiday hours.
Woof – of course!
