The number of burglaries on Munjoy Hill has decreased significantly during the second half of August according to Police Department figures just released. For the second half of August, there were two home burglaries on the Hill and no vehicle break-ins. This information was provided to City Councilor Kevin J. Donoghue from Chief Sauschuck and forwarded on to mhn.com from the Councilor.
Last month, a report from the Police Department stated there had been 7 motor vehicles burglaries and 4 home burglaries. That report dated August 17th was posted herein on August 19th as Post # 1,500.
“…….that specifically mentioned Munjoy Hill and things have slowed down considerably. I think the increased awareness from the public and our increased staffing levels and overall presence on the Hill have been effective. I’m sure your getting questions on the current satus of crime so we wanted to pass this along,” said Chief Sauschuch in the report to Councilor Donoghue.
One of the home burglaries occured on August 19th at 24 Ponce Street and the other at 43 O’Brion Street on August 24th.
