A Racial Equity Steering Committee was established at the Portland City Council’s July 13, 2020 Council meeting. The Committee will be tasked with developing recommendations to the City Council regarding the ways in which city government should address and respond to institutional racism and structural inequities.
Any members of the public who wish to be considered to serve on this steering committee should send a cover letter and resume to the Mayor’s office no later than 12:00 pm on Monday, August 31, 2020. Mayor Snyder intends to announce the members of the Racial Equality Steering Committee at the Council’s September 9 meeting.
