On Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at 4:37 am., the Patten Fire Department responded to a commercial building fire at 6 Main Street in Patten.

When the fire department arrived, the building, the Outback Garage, was  fully engulfed.  Two tenants who lived in an apartment above the garage were able to escape safely.  The building was considered a total loss.  The fire also spread to a nearby apartment building, causing significant damage and displacing 8 tenants of the apartment building.

The fire originated towards the rear of the garage.  The use of an excavator hindered investigator’s ability to determine the cause of the fire.  The Patten Fire Department was assisted by multiple other departments.
