Coffee by Design, at 43 Washington Avenue, on Munjoy Hill is slated to shutdown on February 28, 2019 according to its owners Mary A. Lindemann and Alan Spear. They invite you however to continue to frequent their other areas coffee shops on India Street, Diamond Street and Congress Street. The Washington Avenue shop opened in January of 2005.

Last year, CBD sold the building to the owner of Duckfat, Rob Evans and Nancy. Last year, the two opened a food service in the back of the CBD building. It’s comprised of an order window with customers using tables in the beer garden in front of Oxbow Bottling & Brewing Co. It was a joint project between Duckfat and Oxbow.

A farmhouse in Newcastle (near Damariscotta) is the original brewery for Oxbow. That’s where Oxbow owners also raise pigs that are sold to Duckfat, Oxbow’s food partners. Duckfat is located at 43 Middle Street – revered for its Belgian Fries.
