Guests of the  Homeless Services Center will have an opportunity to gain work experience and earn minimum wage ($14. per hour) while they help beautify city parks according to a press release issued by the city this mornng.  Workers will perform a variety of maintenance duties to help beautify the city’s parks and trails, primarily on the peninsula.

The city’s Social Services Division works with the city’s Parks Division to run the program.  It will operate two to three days a week from approximately June through November and on each day up to six people will be hired.  The city has partnered with Workforce Solutions and Complete Labor to link participants with additional services such as job training and employment support.

Donations to support the program can be made on the Portland Opportunity Crew web page.  Donations go directly toward program expenses such as paying the wages for the participants, transportation, breakfast and lunch.
