The search for a new city manager is “on track with our schedule we set forth originally,” said City Councilor Cheryl Leeman, chair of the search committee.
“The committee received 65 applications from all across the country,” said Leeman in an email to mhn.com. Since then the committee has narrowed the field down to 7 applications for a more in-depth review with background and reference checks. Upon review of the 7 candidate profiles and additional information provided by consultant (Colin Baenziger of Colin Baenziger & Associates), the search committee will make a decision as to whom we will recommend as finalists to the full city council for interviews by the full city council, Leeman’s email went on to say. (Leeman is considering a run for the new position of Mayor this fall.)
According to the original schedule set out by the search committee in March, the new city manager should be selected by the city council at the end of this month and the winning candidated offered the job around June 1st. It is expected that the new city manager will be on the job in August. The salary range is between $120,000 to $170,000.
Other members of the city’s search committee are Councilors Jill Duson and John Anton.
