UPDATE: City Receives Application for Union Street High Rise by East Brown Cow Management

Share

The city of Portland has received a major site plan application for a new 30-story, mixed-use building from East Brown Cow Management Inc. a Jacob Soley company. The building is planned to have a 6,400 square-footprint, totaling 199,803 gross square feet of floor area and will include residential, hotel, retail, restaurant and bar uses.

The press release from the city’s planning and urban development department does not indicate how many parking spaces will be available for residential use. Why do you suppose?   Nor does it indicate the make-up of the residental units; studio, one-bedroom, etc.  This development is proposed for an existing half-acre surface parking lot located in the Old Port Historic District and the B-3 Downtown Business Zone.

If you have questions regarding the proposal, please contact Eric Freerman, Planner, by phone at 207 – 874-8724 or email at:  efreeman@portlandmaine.gov.

UPDATE:  According to Mr. Freeman , city planner, the reason there was no mention of parking spaces for the residents of the bullding, is that parking will be available at the neaby Fore Street Garage, a facility owned by the Soley family.  Jacob Soley, is apparently the grandson of the late infamous  Joe Soley.
