In anticipation of significant snow fall and strong winds, the City of Portland has initiated its winter storm operations. To help facilitate the city’s response and clearing of streets, the city is asking residents to park off-street if possible. (THERE IS NO PARKING BAN). To that end, public parking lots and school parking lots are open to the public for overnight parking and the city-owned Spring Street garage will remain open tonight at the reduced parking ban rate. With expected high winds that may limit visibility, motorists are encouraged to avoid driving during the storm and are asked to wait until roads are safe for travel.
Residents and visitors to the city can sign up online, become a fan of Portland Cityline on Facebook or a follower of Portland’Citylin on Twitter to receive notices from the city when a city-wide parking ban is implemented. People can also call the parking ban hotline at 879-0300 or check the Time and Temperature sign for up-to-date postings.
