The City is in the preliminary stages of planning an outdoor concert for next summer on the Eastern Promenade on Munjoy Hill according to several sources close to the situation mhn.com has recently learned.  No artist has been hired to perform at the event, although it is expected to be “family-friendly.’

In August of 2012, Mumford & Sons performed on the Eastern Promenade in a concert  that attracted many thousands from all over the East Coast . It was organized by the State Theater.  The City learned much from that experience and those tips will be applied to the anticipated concert for next summer. One lesson learned from the Mumford & Sons concert was that there were long, endless lines to buy food from food vendors.  However, food trucks were not in use at that time.

Such an outdoor concert would have to be approved by the City Council.  The matter is on the City Council agenda for Monday, October 20, 2014.
