The public is invited to attend Chowderfest 2010 to be held this Friday, October 8th from 5 pm to 7 pm at 14 Ocean Gateway Pier, here in Portland. The event is hosted by the Maine Maritime Museum, Bath.
The get together is a celebration of the merger of two non-profits whose goals are to preserve Maine’s maritime heritage. It’s an opportunity to have some fantastic chowder, mingle with a bunch of really fine folk and maybe even win an incredible “experience” prize at the raffle. If you haven’t had an opportunity to attend a function at the Ocean Gateway Pier on the Portland waterfront, you’ll love the view and accommodations.
On June 1st, the Portland Harbor Musum closed its musuem doors on Congress Street for the last time. Prior to that, PHM had been located in the Canon Repair Shop, Spring Point on the campus of Southern Maine Community College for years. The closure came about due to the economic downturn. The merger of these two organizations was seen as the best way to be sure that Portland continues to have a maritime history presence in this area while expanding the boundaries of the Maine Maritime Museum, Bath.
Tickets are only $20 and $25. There is a discount for the purchase of 10 tickets. Even if you can’t attend, there is an opportunity to win one of the “Great Experience” prizes in the raffle. You don’t have to be present to win, but tickets are needed! Please call (207) 443-1316 for tickets or email garrison@maritimeme.org 24/7.
