
University of Maine System Chancellor Dannel Malloy Last Month When He Indtroduced the New USM, Portland, President.
Today the contract for Chancellor Dannel Malloy was unanimously approved for one more year. Terms of the extension include “improved communications and financial stability” Chancellor Malloy has agreed to forego his 2022 bonus and a salary increase in 2023, notwithstanding the 3% cost of living increase that all management receives.
“I am sorry for the turmoil my mstakes have cdreated for Maine’s public universities in recent months and especially that they have distracted from the incredibleaccomplishments of our students, faculty and staff,” said Chancellor Malloy in a statement issued this afternoon. “From the celebration of our 4,500 new graduates to a commitment to hold tuition flat yet again for Maine famiiies to serving a unified accredation that allows students at any of our campuses to move seamlessly across the resources of our entire Systems and maintains our smallest universities where they are, we have made tremendous progrsss under my tenture all while maintaining in-person learning and research during a global pandemic.” Malloy is a former prosecutor, lawyer, mayor and two-term Governor of Connecticut. He was hired in 2019 to serve as Chancellor for three years.
