It was reported that 24 deaths have now occurred in Maine due to the coronavirus. A total of 14,076 individuals in Maine have been tested negatively and 770 people have been confirmed with the deadly virus.
At the daily briefing by the state’s coronavirus task force, it was stated that Cedars, Portland, has now been added to the list of long-term facilities now reporting confirmed cases of the COVID-19 according to Dr. Nirav Shah, Director of MaineCDC. This facility now reports 5 cases with three of them residents and 2 staff members.
Dr. Shah reported that a total of 137 individuals affiliated with long-term congregate settings have been diagnosed with the COVID-19. Ninety-four are residents and 43 are staff members. There are four long-term facilities included in this count.
“I do believe in miracles. I hope you do too. Be kind and have courage. Stay the course,” counseled Governor Janet Mills, at the conclusion of the briefing.
