The clogging  of the East End Beach with ice chunks has delayed the annual Camp Sunshine fundraiser – Freezin‘ For a Reason Polar Dip – until next month. The annual fundraiser had been set for this Saturday, February 21st.

The new date is Saturday, March 14th.

Ironically, a co-founder of Camp Sunshine died on Friday, 2/13/15. Lawrence Gould, who with his former wife, Anna, founded this Casco retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families, died at the age of 84 years old last week. The couple donated the 24-acres of land upon which Camp Sunshine was built.  The free camp was built on a section of the upscale Point Sebago Resort they owned.   The Camp opened in 1984 according to the website.

There is no known connection between the death of Gould and the delay of the :Polar Dip at East End Beach on Saturday. The delay is purely weather related.
