Never Were This Blogger’s Favorite Beans Anyway!

Two employees of the Burnham & Morrill Portland factory told this blogger at 5:00 pm. today,  that they and other employees were informed today at 3:00 pm that the Portland location was shutting down at the end of the year. In other words, they will lose their jobs in four months. One employee said the building will be sold to Roux Institute.  Neither employee volunteered their names and this blogger did not ask for them or any other identifying details.

One employee said she was just hired for her current position three months ago.  Before she accepted the position, she was assured there was no truth to the rumor of the impending sale of the building.  “This afternoon we found out the truth,” she said.  “There were lots of rumors around but we were assured they were only rumors until this afternoon.”

One of the two employees said that a press release would be issued tonight. B&M currently employs 93 people.

This blogger tried to reach Tyler Wallace, plant manager, at 5:00 pm.  He was unavailable and an employee said he’d gone home.
