An alert Portland Police Officer located the suspect wanted for the Norway Savings Bank robbery late this week and he was placed under arrest without incident at the Back Cove Parking Lot off Preble Street around noon on Thursday, January 26, 2023.

With the help of citizen tips, 56-year-old Pierce Gagnon, of South Portland was quickly identified as the suspect in the robbery of the Forest Avenue bank that occurred on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at 1:40 pm.  A temporary warrant had been issued for his arrest that afternoon and around noon on Thursday he was spotted by an officer that was on patrol.

Gagnon was charged with Robbery and will be brought to the Cumberland County Jail according to the press release issued by the Portland Police on Thursday, January 26, 2023.
