Arrest Made Following Investigation into Threats Against University of New England, Biddeford

On Monday morning, September 15, 2025, the Maine State Police in coodination with the Biddeford Police Department, investigated a report concerning comments made by an individual at a restaurant in Cornish.  The comments referenced potential threats directed toward the University of New England in Biddeford.

The Troopers identified the individual as Blake Tibbett, 24, of Corish.  He was detained, evaluaed at a local hospital and subsequently transported to the York County Jail.  During the investigation agencies located bomb-making materials at Tibbetts’ residence on Old Limington Road.  He was charged wih terrorizing, criminal use of explosives, and criminal intent to cause a catastrtophe according to a press release issued late this morning by the Maine State Police.

He’s currently being held on $500,000 cash bail.  No further details are being released at this point.
