An armed robbery that occurred on Saturday, June 19th around 11:40 pm is under investigation by Portland Police according to a press release issued today.
Officers initially responded to the area of 93 Gilman Street for a report of a man with a gun and found the victim a 23-year-old man, who reported that three male suspects approached him and asked to use his phone. The victim refused and ran toward St. John Street. The three suspects, who were described by witnesses as two Black males and one white male, caught up and began assaulting the victim. One suspect took out a pistol and hit the victim with it. The suspects took the victim’s belongings, including an undisclosed amount of money. The victim was transported to Maine Medical Center and treated for injuries he suffered during the robbery.
Witnesses reported that the suspects were wearing hooded sweatshirts and dark pants and at least one was wearing a red shirt.
