The apparent firing of long-time Portland Police Department Leader Robert Martin by the Police Chief Mark Dubois was just another mistake in a history of missteps by this Department says this “left wing lunatic.”

The news of Martin’s firing was reported on the front page of the “Portland Press Herald” Saturday, October 25, 2025.  Like the reporter of this story, “LWL” emailed the Department’s spokesperson for confirmation of this news yesterday.  Brad responded: “the city does not comment on personnel matters.”

As a long time resident of Portland, there have been numerous opportunities for this Portland citizen and member of the press to interact with the Department.  Mr. Martin was one of the few who wasn’t arrogant in dealing with the public and the press. In contacts with him,  he didn’t present himself as “all knowing” and “superior” which other members of the Department do, even when they didn’t know it all.  Mr. Martin was always professional in our interactions – both as a member of the press and the public.

His departure from the Department is an unfortunate loss for the city, although it is too arrogant to know it..

Police Department Chief Dubois was sworn in just over two years ago as the 21st police chief in Portland.  For more information, please visit post herein dated July 28, 2023.
