A team of ambulances to assist Maine emergency medical services (EMS) crews will be dispatched to Maine according to a press release issued yesterday by Governor Janet T. Mills (D) office yesterday.
A request by the Governor, the first woman Governor of Maine, was approved to assist with non-emergency transportation of patients among facilities to match patients with open beds and ensure they are treated in the facility that best meets their health care needs.
Maine Medical Center (MMC), Portland is the only facility in Portland to be the beneficiary of this transportation assist.
The Mills Administration is awaiting further details from the Federal government about the ambulance teams, including when they will arrive in Maine.
