Last night about 8:00 pm., Heather Lonko walked down Cumberland Avenue to the 7 Eleven convenience store to purchase lottery tickets as she often does. As she approached the store at 27 Washington Avenue, she saw a group of people outside the front door and what she said looked like “tons of police.” The police told her the store had been robbed and was closed.
Just moments before at 7:45 pm, this busy store was robbed by a lone male who entered the store and demanded cash from the clerk. He left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen on foot heading toward the Kennedy Park neighborhood. There were several customers in the convenience store but no one was injured in the robbery. No weapon was displayed. Witnesses belielve the perpetrator was a while male with a thin build. He was wearing a mask and a block hooded sweat shirt with the hood up. He had on blue jeans and brown shoes. The sweat shirt had a distinctive small white traingle printed on the back, just below the hood. Anyone having information is asked to connect the Portland Police Department, according to a press release issued by the City of Portland this afternoon.
