The 17th annual PeaksFest is coming this weekend. It’s a 2 l/2 day event packed full of mostly fun events to celebrate the Island community, heritage, environment, neighborhoods, spirit, businesses and lovable eccentrics. Even after 17 years, it just keeps getting better and better. There is truly something for everybody – including the family dog!
The kick-off event is on Friday, June 22 – The SchmoozFest – at the Fifth Maine with Peter Donnelly on the piano. It runs from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm. “Starter refreshments will be provided and you are asked to bring your favorite snacks and bring your own bottle because it’s a BYOB event. Please consider bringing enough to share with others.
The ever so popular group – the Peaks Island Ukes will be in concert of 12:30 – 1:00 on Saturday, June 23. The schedule provided this blogger says: “Come get your Hawaiian on and sing along with the PI Ukes as they plan a 30 minute concert of favorites free, Creedence Clearwater Revival to Elvis to Patsy Cline and more!”
A Pancake Breakfast By the Sea will be served on Sunday, June 24th at the Fifth Maine Museum, 45 Seashore Avenue. It runs from 8:00 am – 11:00 am. “Come for a breakfast with a view and leave with a full belly and a full heart! Your support keeps the Fifth Maine going strong as a museum and as is,” says the promotional material.
It’s a jam-packed weekend on Peaks Island. A limited number of copies of the schedule should become available this week at businesses on the Island. Your assistance in getting the word out would be appreciated by the organizers.
