You’re Invited to Five Seals Release on Tuesday, 9/8 in Phippsburg

You are invited to attend a public harbor seal pup release tomorrow Tuesday, September 8th at Head Beach in Phippsburg.  “Kennel doors” open at 12:00 pm sharp!  A batch of five pups will be released at this time according to the  Marine Mammals of Maine.  The non-profit hopes you can join the occasion.

If you can join in, it is important to keep in mind the following so that the release will be an incredible experience for all:

No dogs allowed – pleae leave all pets at home; These seals are wild animals – it may take them a moment to acclimate and feel comfortable exiting the kennel.  Help them feel safe by using quiet voices and respecting crowd barriers;  Do not approach the seals once they pass the barrier tape and enter the water; The release site is a private beach generously opened by MMoME and the public.  Please be respectful of the parking area, paths and the beach.  LEAVE NO TRACE and better yet, you can help all marine life by picking up any trash you find whlle enjoying the release.

Please be aware there will be a film crew on site at this release and they may capture video of partcipants.

Thank you to the Wyman family for opening the beach for this release!

Every single monetary donation, wish list item and message of encouragement was needed to return these five pups to the wild.  Thank you!  To help the next wave of stranded marine mammals in need of care, please feel free to donate money or to our wish list.
