Urban Earth Day was celebrated today in Congress Square Park. Organizers of the event called it – Returning to Citizen Grassroots Organizing and Advocacy Day as well. The event lasted all day under sunny skies and a temperature of 50 degrees.
Members of the Friends of Congress Square Park ran an information table all day. The group is opposed to the city’s sale of the Park to RockBridge for use as an events center at the next door Westin Hotel. The matter is now in the court system for resolution.
