The challenging third annual UrbanRaid Portland hits the East End on Saturday, June 28th and early information indicates that it will be the best one yet. It starts on the Maine State Pier at 10:00 am with different waves of runners going until 11:00 am that morning. Registration for the 3.8 mile run and obstacle course is higher than the previous two years.
There are twelve challenges this year for the fittest of the fit and that includes two new ones, according to Maine native Parker Swenson, event coordinator. The two new ones are a slackline and tractor tires. Some of the familiar ones are Monkey Bars, Maine Hurdles, Sandbag Carry and the Finish Wall. Don’t forget about the 3.8 mile race along the East End that goes along with it!
The packets for the challenge can be picked up the previous day – on Friday, June 27th at the Sports Authority in South Portland from noon – until 8:00 pm. The Portland event is the first in a series of urban raids this spring in the northeast in Massachusetts and New York. Even if you don’t compete, come out and cheer them on!
“We are very excited to back in Portland,” said Swenson in an email earlier today.
